My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I'd just read another book by another author that was too fast paced with too much action and no down time for the H/H to interact and develop a deep relationship so this was just what I needed.
What she is masterful at is the internal conflict. I love it when the majority of the conflict is between the H/H and about the relationship and not some big bad external force. It's much harder to do and much more satisfying for me.
I didn't see the Heroine as TSTL at all. But then again I have a 20 year old and I know exactly just how stupid young people can be even without dealing with being abused by relatives and I also know what crazy things losing a parent can do to your head. So I saw her character in the beginning as perfectly genuine for her age and circumstances.
