After attending Moonlight and Magnolias I think every new or Pro author needs to attend at least one conference. It was an invaluable step in my career. Even if neither of the requests pans out I still learned more about the industry in three days than I could have learned in years sitting in my little writing hole at home.
The workshops and speakers are great but it's the conversations in the hall, at meals and in the bar where you learn inside industry info about things like copy editors, marketing people, male models etc. And it was wonderful to learn how much certain people that are in the industry really do read and love romance and it's not just a job to them.
